Alison Hein is a food writer and recipe developer who is fascinated by all things culinary. She enjoys mixing up a wide range of new dishes with a focus on fresh, healthy ingredients. Lacking a formal culinary education, she apprenticed at the knees of her grandmothers – one of whom was a health-minded vegetarian, and the other who cooked with lots and lots of butter. She won her first cookie contest at age seven, and learned to bake bread in a wood stove while living in Washington state. Alison has also had the opportunity to spend time learning about food in Germany and Japan, and has been known to sneak into restaurant kitchens to ask chefs for recipes. No wonder she is mixed up!
Alison currently writes a weekly breakfast recipe post (every Wednesday) for the Charles P. Rogers Breakfast in Bed Blog
In the past, she wrote a weekly recipe column for the now sadly defunct Bergen News:

Thanks so much for the like on my zucchini explosion post – hope it gave you a chuckle. You have definitely inherited your mother’s talents for cooking. There’s several recipes I’m anxious to try out, including the peach-infused vodka beverage, since I’m now swamped with loads of peaches. I’ll be back to check out more of your blog.

Hi Allison – Is your father named Joe?
Hi Madelaine,
Yes, my father’s name was Joe. He sadly passed away 2 years ago. You can see a photo of him as a young man in the Memorial Day Pancakes story. Did you know my dad?
So sorry to hear of his passing. Yes, I knew him well.
When I was in college, I worked for him at his VW shop. Helped with billing before your mom took over and even pumped a little gas. lol He was such a lovely man. Last time I saw him was a few years ago in the RP 4th of July parade with his model T. I remember he took my bf (at the time) and me along with your mom on some antique car parade/meet-up many years ago. I have such fond memories of him.
Wow. Do you remember by sister Janet and me?
No, I’m sorry, I don’t although your name is familiar. I had a Beetle and used to go there for repairs so that’s how the whole friendship/work arrangement began.
Your recipes sound divine! I’ll be back to try one or two or ten of them….
That’s so sweet! Please let me know if you do try.
Hi Alison… glad to connect and interact with you.
Your blog so “yummy”… 😆 Happy cooking and blogging… 😀
– Thanks for stopping by my blog. Best wishes to you –
Thank you and same here, Bams! I enjoy stopping by your blog to see what’s going on! 🙂
This is the most edible blog I’ve come across! Some of those recipes look delicious. I am a fan already!
I like your blog and thanks for stopping by mine too. Did you know ‘gobs’ has a very different meaning in UK English though? I’ll leave you to google it 🙂
Uh oh, Izz. That’s not very appetizing! Thanks for the heads up. Rest assured I will be updating my wording! 🙂
Appreciate your stopping by my blog earlier Alison. I look forward to browsing through your wonderful recipes.
Thanks, Madhu! I enjoy your photos every week. 🙂
