Blueberries

Did you know that botanists estimate blueberries have been growing on this earth for more than 13,000 years?

Blueberries are the state fruit of my very own New Jersey, and my absolute favorites, so I hope they will continue to flourish for at least another 13,000 years! Try some in my hot-off-the-presses recipe: Blueberry Breakfast Cake.

You can find more blueberry fun facts and great recipes on the  U.S Highbush Blueberry Council website.

Robert Frost, another blueberry aficionado, went so far as to author a poem about them – Blueberries.

Blueberries, you gotta love ’em. 🙂

No way! That is some amazing trivia! I wonder how different blueberries were 13,000 years ago… Just like how there were big cats and mastodons, I wonder if there were berries the size of oranges . . .

Ha, ha! That would have made one amazing pie! But clearly, there was a lot more to “gather” than there is mow.
