Homemade Peach-Infused Vodka

The peaches have been so lush and flavorful this season that I decided to infuse some vodka for our big annual barbecue. It would make a lovely, light summer drink, I thought, and add pizzazz to our outdoor bar, all shimmery and shiny in its ice-frosted glass.

I peeled and sliced my peaches, covered them with vodka, and locked my project up in a cool, dark storeroom. Every day, I checked the color and flavor, to see just how peachy my vodka was becoming. By the seventh day, the vodka had attained a lustrous, amber-rose hue, and a lightly sweet, strong peach essence. Perfect! We put the vodka container in the freezer the night before the party, and were happy with the oohs and aahs accompanying its frosty display. Success!

The catch? Pure vodka infused with luscious, sweet peach nectar is still pure vodka… and it catches up fast.

4 peaches
1.75 liters vodka


Peel, slice, and chop peaches.* Place in large, clean glass container with a good seal. Pour vodka over peaches. Store vodka in a cool, dark place until peach flavor infuses, about one week. Chill before serving.

*        To easily peel peaches, cut a small “x” in the bottom of the fruit. Carefully drop into boiling water and blanch for up to one minute. Remove peach from pot, and immerse in ice water. Peel off peach skin starting at the “x’. Slice peach by cutting lengthwise to the pit, and pulling slices away from pit. Chop slices into smaller pieces.

Peaches n’Cream Signature Drink

We made a signature drink for our summer party, by mixing the peach-infused vodka with cream soda. Very easy and lots of fun. Depending on your palate, the vodka is also nice with tonic, or just plain seltzer. Cheers!
2 parts Homemade Peach-Infused Vodka
1 part cream soda

Fill a glass with ice. Pour vodka and cream soda over ice. Drink slowly.

      Ooooh! How wonderful! And the peaches have been wonderful this year. I also love to make an old-fashioned flat cake with peaches (I use my applekuchen recipe), and surprisingly, peaches with creamy rice for breakfast.

    Sounds yummy! One thing I like about Vodka, it is like a blank canvass that accepts all sorts of color. 🙂 We use Vodka for making homemade vanilla extract. 🙂

    Every time I have tried to infuse vodka with peaches, the fruit turns brown within a day…even in 100 proof spirits. Same thing with pears, and that was even with 195 proof grain alcohol. Any suggestions?

      Without knowing all the details, I would suggest two things:
      1) Make sure you completely cover the fruit with vodka immediately after peeling and chopping the fruit.
      2) Make sure you immediately store your infusion in a cool, dark place. If you don’t have a dark enough spot, cover the jar with a brown paper bag.
